Leftover Chicken Ideas
Chicken leftovers are common. How many times have you made a roasted chicken and then had a lot left over? Did it get used up or did it languish in the refrigerator until you had to throw it out? Do not let leftovers go to waste; they can make your life easier by helping you make delicious meals in less time. There are lots of things you can do with leftover chicken.
Perhaps you just had a roast chicken or you only used part of a family size bag of chicken pieces from the store. Now what? Leftover roast chicken provides you with precooked chicken that can speed up your meal, while those thawed pieces of chicken can create something entirely new. Do not panic; there are lots of options either way.
For uncooked chicken, you can make an easy baked chicken rice recipe for dinner the next night. It is simple and delicious. The rice is infused with the flavor of the chicken and creates a terrific meal. It is a great choice on a busy weeknight when time is scarce.
You could also try a new chicken breast recipe. Chicken breasts are very versatile. You can stuff them, bread them and fry them, cut them up, grill them or serve them with sauce. This is the main reason so many people love chicken breasts.
If you have leftover cooked chicken, consider making easy chicken enchiladas. Just stuff your tortillas with chicken and cheese and lay them in a pan. Cover them with enchilada sauce and a little more cheese and pop them in the oven to warm through. Fast and delicious!
You can use cooked chicken for tacos, casseroles, salads, and lots of great recipes. A delicious chicken lasagna would be tasty. Combine the cooked chicken with rice and top it with a curry sauce for an exotic meal. Toss the chicken into a pie crust with some vegetables to make a chicken pot pie. Chicken can also be used to make a delicious chili. This is a great dinner or lunch. You can even use the bones to make a yummy chicken soup.
Leftover chicken makes great meals, but you can also use it for snacks. Add some to a plate of cheese and chips to make chicken nachos. Dip the nachos in salsa and sour cream to complete the dish. Cut the chicken into pieces and dip them in your favorite dressing or sauce. Add some cubed chicken to your salad to add some protein. You can even put it on a baked potato if you shred it.
Now that you know what you can do with your leftover chicken, it will be something to look forward to instead of something to dread. Who says leftovers have to be boring? You can actually have plans for that leftover chicken before you have it sitting in the refrigerator. This can make meal planning much easier in the long run. You also benefit by getting great meals that you actually love for your family.
